MATCHED GIVING
Many employers support their employees' chosen fundraising activities.
It's worth asking your employer if they run such a scheme as it could double the amount you raise.
Each employer will have their own set of rules - so find the right contact and check out the criteria; more often than not, this is the Personnel or Human Resources department. Some will match £ for £ and some will have a ceiling amount they are prepared to give.
You may need to register your chosen fundraising activity with your employer before you start to fundraise, so it is important to act quickly.
Some employers will match only the amount raised, others will include the amount of Gift Aid that can be recovered - it is important to establish which. This is an example of the difference it can make:
If your employer will only match your fundraising amount:
| You raise | £100 |
| Gift Aid Claim | £28 |
| Employer matches your fundraising | £100 |
| Total | £228 |
If your employer will match the Gift Aid amount too:
| Your raise | £100 |
| Gift Aid Claim | £28 |
| Employer matches both amounts | £128 |
| Total | £256 |
Some employers don't have clear policies, so there may be room for negotiation.
Please call us and let us help if we possibly can. This is a really easy way to increase, or even double, your fundraising efforts. It is worth asking your employer - it's not only large companies who give to charities!
